Jamia Islamia Canada was founded in 1992 and began by serving the community from a small rented property. As the congregation grew the masjid moved to a larger facility to accommodate increasing needs. Today Jamia Islamia Canada operates from its current 36000 square foot property which has been purchased outright reflecting the growth stability and continued commitment of the community.
Jamia Islamia Canada was founded through the vision and dedication of Molana Muhammad Asif Qasmi, the great grandson of Molana Qasim Nanotvi. Drawing from a strong scholarly lineage and a lifelong commitment to Islamic education and community service Molana Muhammad Asif Qasmi established Jamia Islamia Canada in 1992 to serve the growing Muslim community with sincerity guidance and sound Islamic teachings rooted in the Hanafi Sunni tradition.
Molana Muhammad Asif Qasmi is also the founder of Masjid Farooq e Azam in North Nazimabad, Karachi, where he played a key role in developing religious education and community programs. This same vision of faith based leadership education and service was carried forward to Canada laying the foundation for Jamia Islamia Canada to grow into a center for worship learning and community engagement for generations to come.
Jamia Islamia Canada is a community centered masjid dedicated to worship education and service. Founded in 1992 the masjid has served as a place of prayer learning and unity for generations supporting the spiritual religious and social needs of the Muslim community. The masjid follows the Sunni tradition in its religious practices and teachings and strives to uphold Islamic values through guidance education and community involvement.
Throughout its history Jamia Islamia Canada has been deeply involved in serving the community through a wide range of religious educational and outreach initiatives. These include Hifz programs Qur’an classes Islamic studies summer schools youth programs educational workshops and organized field trips designed to support learning and personal development. The masjid has also facilitated Umrah and Hajj groups providing guidance and support for those undertaking these important acts of worship.
In addition to religious education Jamia Islamia Canada has remained committed to community outreach and social responsibility. The masjid has organized food banks clothing drives and charitable programs to support families and individuals in need and has worked to foster unity compassion and service within the wider community. Regular community events lectures and programs during Ramadan Eid and throughout the year continue to bring people together and strengthen communal bonds.
In 2012 Jamia Islamia Canada expanded its mission with the establishment of JIC School offering education from Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school integrates Islamic values with a structured academic curriculum creating a nurturing environment that supports faith character discipline and academic growth for students and families.
Jamia Islamia Canada operates from a 36000 square foot facility offering extensive indoor space to accommodate prayers, classes and events. The property also includes over 160 on site parking spaces allowing the masjid to comfortably host large congregations and community gatherings. Together Jamia Islamia Canada and JIC School continue to serve as enduring pillars of faith education service and community engagement for present and future generations.
